Our Growing Library

A big shoutout to Bonnie Pease for her incredible contributions to the growth of our aviation library! Bonnie, known affectionately as "Auntie Bonnie" at the hangar, has been an unwavering source of support and generosity.

Through her kindness and love for Habitat for Aviation, she has gifted us with some truly remarkable titles that have already made a huge impact on our young Rosies. Books like The Women Behind Rosie the Riveter, The Girls Who Stepped Out of Line, American Woman and World War II, and Women Code Breakers not only enrich our library but also inspire and empower the next generation of women in aviation and beyond.

Bonnie's thoughtful gestures go beyond books. She has a special way of showing up with just the right gift, card, or word of encouragement exactly when it's needed. Her mentorship and devotion to our cause shine through in everything she does. Whether it’s sending a note of inspiration or simply offering a listening ear, Auntie Bonnie represents kindness, love, and a deep commitment to each of our young Rosies. We are so grateful for her unique presence in our community, and we are thrilled to watch our library grow thanks to her generous spirit. Thank you, Auntie Bonnie, for being such a remarkable part of our Habitat for Aviation family!

Beth White

Education Possibilitarian, Artist, Writer, Doula, Mentor, Aviatrix, Breast Cancer Survivor, Pilot-in-Command at Habitat for Aviation

In the spring of 2022, Beth White emerged from a 10-month battle with breast cancer with an idea: to create an apprenticeship program at Franklin County State Airport where youth work alongside adult mentors servicing conventional and electric aircraft. A pilot and airplane mechanic apprentice herself, and with family roots in the trades, Habitat for Aviation provides an taxilane for world learning opportunities for youth and adults who love to work with their hands to enter the FAA’s apprenticeship certification track. Each day she puts systems in place that make real John Dewey’s philosophy that we “learn best what we live” – a deep throughline from her time at Antioch University New England and as Regional Director for Big Picture Learning. Each learning experience is grounded in relationships, relevance, and practice. In October, 2023, Habitat for Aviation launched its Women Build Planes program, where an all-female team of Modern Day Rosies is building an airplane at Franklin County Airport, in northwestern Vermont, to show folks everywhere that despite the fact that only 2.6% of airplane mechanics are female, women BUILD, FLY, and FIX airplanes.
